CUBAN NIGHT FOR ALZHEIMER’S CELEBRATES ITS 10TH ANNIVERSARY WITH GREAT SUCCESS

Miami, Florida, November 29th, 2019, /- Assistance to the Elderly and its filial company, Residential Plaza celebrated last Friday, November 22nd, the 10th Anniversary of their annual fundraising event, Cuban Night for Alzheimer’s. Assistance to the Elderly’s mission has always focused on serving the most vulnerable in our community, low-income older adults, primarily low-income older adults diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. The Memory Care Program has evolved since its inception to serve today, 54 individuals with memory care need based on the Montessori Program for Alzheimer’s and Dementia.

“The need for memory care is increasing; it is a high level of care; it can be costly, out of reach for many. Alzheimer’s can bring a financial burden to family members. We are raising funds to support the individuals and their families.” said Luisana Hung Salazar, Development Director for Assistance to the Elderly.

Alzheimer’s is the 6th leading cause of death in the USA. More than 5 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s today, and by 2050 that number could get as high as 16 million. “Cuban Night for Alzheimer’s ignites the conversation among different players in the industry to create synergies to face the challenges when it comes to memory care,” said Hung Salazar.

The 10th Anniversary of the Cuban Night for Alzheimer’s was well attended for over 500 guests. Under the theme of the night, Cuban Carnival, all the guests enjoyed live music by Alain and its Latin Band, ate exquisite Cuban food, shared an upbeat “crazy hour.” Most importantly, the event raised awareness and over $65,000 to support the Rental Assistance Program for residents diagnosed with Alzheimer’s.

Assistance to the Elderly wouldn’t be able to fulfill its mission without the invaluable partnership with key players in our community. Florida Community Care, Lifeline Home Healthcare Providers, Premier Clinical Research Institute, and Vitas Healthcare joined our initiative as Diamond Sponsors. The resident’s families joined us, and Joel Santana shared a heartfelt testimony, along with over 20 volunteers from West Coast University that came to volunteer their time to give our guests an incredible experience.
