COVID-19 vaccine

COVID-19 started to hit the United States early in 2020. From the very beginning, COVID-19 proved to be a lethal virus, attacking viciously older adults, those immunocompromised, and those with pre-existing conditions.

The health system collapsed, forcing hospitals to create COVID-19 units that took over all their resources.

Our economy suffered as local, state, and federal authorities closed or limited businesses capacities as a means of infection control.

As a collective, we expected the authorities to develop solutions and treatments to manage the symptoms and lower mortality. In December of 2020, the FDA issued an Emergency Use Authorization for the Pfizer BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine, the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine, and later in February 2021, the Johnson and Johnson COVID-19 vaccine.

The US government supported manufacturers to mass-produce the vaccines and have them available for all Americans. The vaccines started to be administered all over the country, finding resistance in our communities despite the millions of deaths and people suffering severe consequences after having COVID-19.

The COVID-19 vaccines have proven to be highly effective in reducing the risk of severe disease, hospitalization, and death, even against the widely circulating Delta variants.

Is the COVID-19 vaccine for you?

Over 369 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been given in the United States from December 14, 2020, through August 30, 2021.

Serious side effects that could cause long-term health problems are implausible following any vaccination, including COVID-19.

Millions of people have received COVID-19 vaccines, and no long-term side effects have been detected.

If the vaccine is suitable for you is something that only you can determine. The CDC has recommended that individuals with underlying medical conditions consult with their doctors to determine if the COVD-19 vaccine is safe for them.
