FLORIDA ASSISTED LIVING ASSOCIATION FOUNDATION GRANTS SCHOLARSHIPS FOR EDUCATION

Assistance to the Elderly shares FALA’s Foundation commitment to promote education among its Staff

Miami, Florida, April 18, 2019, /- The Florida Assisted Living Foundation (the “Foundation”) is committed to promoting and advancing the education of our members and the assisted living profession. To demonstrate this commitment, the Foundation provides several scholarships annually for staff enrolled in an accredited college/university degree program in nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, gerontology, nutrition/dietary, clinical social work or other aging or health-related fields may also be considered,

Assistance to the Elderly is a 501 (C) (3) non-profit organization that owns Residential Plaza at Blue Lagoon, a licensed assisted living and memory care community. Assistance to the Elderly enables low-to-moderate income vulnerable adults to lead meaningful and dignified lives by providing safe supportive housing, quality services, community education, and advocacy

Both organizations share their commitment to advance professionals in the health field to benefit older adults in our community. Assistance to the Elderly’s Development Director, Luisana Hung Salazar received a scholarship. “Staying up to date about non-profit best practices is key to empower ourselves and be instrumental to the fulfillment of our mission. The demographics in the United States is changing dramatically. We will have by 2030 for the first time more people 60 years old and older than 0-17 years old. This demographic change will have an impact on the way we build, think about transportation, health, and every area of our life We need to educate our communities to plan and implement policies that will warrant the services and care this demographic change demands, “said Luisana Hung Salazar, ATTE’s Development Director.

The synergy created by the collaboration of these two organizations is an excellent example of how we should work in the future, fostering partnerships to create exponential growth and opportunities for older adults in our community.
