CUBAN NIGHT FOR ALZHEIMER’S CELEBRATES ITS 10TH ANNIVERSARY

Assistance to the Elderly and its affiliate, Residential Plaza raise funds to benefit low-income older adults diagnosed with Alzheimer’s.

Miami, Florida, November 1, 2019, /- Alzheimer’s is the 6th leading cause of death in the USA. More than 5 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s today, and by 2050 that number could get as high as 16 million. “At some point, we are all going to be impacted by Alzheimer’s; the increasing need will have an active role in shaping our community and economy. Florida is the second state in the country with the largest older adult population, from which Miami-Dade is the number one County in Florida. We need to come together with solutions to face the challenges presented by having such a large older adult population. The needs surpass the currently available resources”, said Luisana Hung Salazar, Development Director for Assistance to the Elderly.

Cuban Night for Alzheimer’s supports Residential Plaza’s Memory Care Program. “Memory Care is among the highest levels of care, making it an expensive and sometimes unaffordable level of care. Many families must keep their loved ones at home because they can’t financially access this level of care. We are committed to bringing all levels of care to low-income older adults in our community regardless of their financial situation,” said Hung Salazar.

Assistance to the Elderly wouldn’t be able to fulfill its mission without the invaluable partnership with key players in our community. This year, Florida Community Care, Lifeline Home Healthcare Providers, Premier Clinical Research Institute, and Vitas Healthcare have joined our initiative as Diamond Sponsors.
Cuban Night for Alzheimer’s celebrates its 10th Anniversary, and it’s going to be bigger and better than ever. The Donna E. Shalala Student Center of the University of Miami will get transformed into a Cuban Carnival on Friday, November 22, 2019, where the celebration starts at 7:00 PM.

“Cuban Night for Alzheimer’s is well attended by the health industry and community leaders, volunteers, as well as the general public that supports our mission,” said Hung Salazar. A night full of live music by Alain Garcia y su Latin Power Band, food, Chinese Auction, tobacco bar, and much more!
