Dr. Dlugasch is a Clinical Associate Professor and Adult-Gerontology Program Leader in the graduate nursing program at Florida International University. Dr. Dlugasch has an outstanding academic resume with a BSN from Florida State University, an MSN-CNS in Critical Care, Post Masters Certificate in Adult care as a Nurse Practitioner, and a Ph.D. from the University of Miami.
Her Area of Specialty is Adult-Gerontology healthcare. She has been teaching basic and advanced nursing courses and mentored countless undergraduate and graduate students in various clinical settings. Dr. Dlugasch spent several years working with underserved populations delivering primary care. She received a grant from the Avon Foundation to provide low-income women with free breast health services such as mammograms. She was the director of a multi-year grant to provide community support, education, and care for low income, high-risk adults with type 2 diabetes. She currently coordinates and participates in healthcare mission trips with students to provide free healthcare to vulnerable adults in various countries (Belize, Peru, Dominican Republic, among others). In addition to teaching full-time at FIU she works in a primary care office in South Miami, delivering care to adults.
Dr. Dlugasch joined Assistance to the Elderly in February 2018, bringing the organization a unique healthcare professionals’ perspective. “For me, it’s an honor to give back to my community and use my experience to serve those that need it the most,” Dr. Dlugasch commented.
