Assistance to the Elderly kicks off the new year by engaging with Financial Forester to bring resources to low-income older adults in the community.

Miami, January 24, 2020.- There is no secret that the older adult population in the United States is facing unprecedented growth where we are expecting to have 80 million baby boomers in the U.S. by 2050. Florida is second to California with the largest older adult population in the country, ten years ahead from the national trend with more people 65+ than 0-17 years old. This new reality is shaping our communities, our economy, and politics.

The need for adequate services and care for low-income older adults in Miami-Dade is pressing, with 16% of Miami-Dade’s population 65+ years old, higher than the national average of 15.6%, as per the U.S. Census Bureau.

“The need is greater than the resources available, it is only by creating synergies with Corporate America that we will be able to meet the needs in our communities,” said Luisana Hung Salazar, Development Director for Assistance to the Elderly.

Forester Financial has been helping everyday families achieve their financial goals for more than 140 years. Whether you’re just starting out or ready to retire, Forester Financial has solutions for every stage of life. During their sales meet, Matt Bergman, Forester Financial, CDO integrated a community component to the team-building exercises in which they built and donated wheelchairs to Assistance to the Elderly’s assisted living community, Residential Plaza at Blue Lagoon.

“Corporate America in general is conscious of their role in the community, of how they can help meet the needs at different levels. The non-profit world greatly benefits with partnerships like this one in which not only resources are offered to those in need, but most importantly, we are raising awareness towards the problems and solutions in our communities,” said Hung Salazar.

Assistance to the Elderly will continue to promote synergies between their cause and corporate america to bring care and services to low-income older adults in Miami-Dade.
